Get to Know Us

In the Social Context & Behavior Lab at Texas Tech, we explore the psychological processes underlying the influence of social contexts on behavioral outcomes by closely examining how people understand, process, and react to various social signals in their environments. Our lab has a particular focus on how social contexts influence prosocial and health behaviors. For example, one of the ongoing themes in our lab involves looking at how prosocial behavior (e.g., kindness) spreads across individuals and groups, and what factors catalyze or suppress this process. We are also interested in how everyday cooperation (which can come in different forms and sizes) promotes collective efficacy and resilience among vulnerable communities. More recently, our lab has begun looking at the behavioral impacts of AI-human interactions compared to human-to-human interactions.
